I'm giving this three stars because it was quite readable. The first two-thirds weren't bad, although the premise of a man completely obsessed by a woman he only knew for four days was a bit far-fetched, especially as he wasn't depicted as being unstable in other areas of his life. But, I was curious about what was going on and the book was a fast read, so not a sacrifice to keep with it. But thene final third! I'd call it stupid except I'm feeling generous today so instead I'll just say it was [...]

I have to agree this novel is really lame. It makes no sense that the guy who works altruistically for 20 years at a charity, and then has only marginal income from freelancing, can travel all over the place looking for the mythical Justine.Halfway through the book, I was just so exasperated. I only finished it because it's so short. Can't recommend this one.

The premise of this book is ridiculous--man & woman have a 4-day affair--woman disappears & man spends money he doesn't have & takes planes, trains & automobiles to find out who she is because

This book was uneven. At times it was exciting and suspenseful, alternating with boring stretches where I didn't care whether the mystery got solved or not.

Magnificamente delineati i personaggi.Un thriller coi fiocchi e controfiocchi.

I found it really hard to care whether Michael reached his goals in the book. All of the characters were flat. Good phrases and descriptions for certain things, though. I liked Justine a bit better than Michael but the side characters held more appeal for me. Also the ending happened so fast it felt contrived, like the author was done writing and just wanted it to end.

The book made me queasy from the beginning to the end. The main character, who is down on his luck (?) picks up a girl in a bar who is way too young for him, has sex with her for 4 days, and then she is gone. When she shows up 9 months later, he risks everything for her wild cockamamie story, and their love. I found it idiotic, but kept on going, because the writing keeps the story intriguing.

L'idea su cui si basa la trama è molto interessante e sarebbe potuto risultare avvincente, se non fosse per la scrittura troppo lenta e tediosa

Annoying bookuldn't relate to the main character's willingness to risk everything for a woman he didn't know.
