Since I've finish the second season of the anime yesterday (and what an ending that was!), I finally decided to continue reading the manga, 'cause there is no possible way I'll be able to wait a whole year for season 3.Just like the first volume, I really enjoyed this one. There was a lot of scenes here that weren't in the anime, so it was interesting and fun to read. Also it was interesting to find out more stuff about ghouls. The characters are amazing, and artwork is really good. Can't wait t [...]

Definitely better written and more developed than the first volume. I think the storyline involving Kaneki's relationship with both sides and showing that humans and ghouls have a shared interest in staying alive is such a strong point for this series. It's way more difficult to condemn something because it's acting according to its nature and not just killing for fun or sport. I'm really starting to like Touka too - and completely unrelated, she kind of reminds me of The Lost Girl from the Rot [...]

I swear I want to put some sense into Ken. He seriously need to understand he's not only a human anymore. That'd do him some good.I love how we can see being a ghoul doesn't mean being entirely bad - though people think so. It's more black and white : some ghouls kill to feed, some don't; some ghouls like humans, some don't . . . they're not the same.Definitely interested to see what's gonna happen next with the inspectors!3.75

4.5 starsThis second volume was even better than the first, and that's saying something! The art is still more than amazing, and we're getting to know all the characters better. (Can I just say how much I love Touka? Yes, she may be bloodthirsty and vengeful, but that's what makes her so great, isn't it?)There was also some extra content that we didn't get to see in the anime, which made me really excited, and now we've also met my lovely Uta with his mildly terrifying eyes, and my n.1 nemesis, [...]

The death of the Ghouls starts something new. After the events of last volume Kankei is trying to figure out what to do. He learns to balance his life as a ghoul and pretend to be human he must master that. He also learns what the Ghouls in this section of the city do to protect themselves and not have the government hunt them. This volume really focuses on the bigger world building parts and giving some in-look on how it all works. There's also a major death that helps build up character in new [...]

This is getting better and better.I love the art style! some mangas have awesome storyline but an art style that's hard to get into, but this one is amazing. This volume goes deeper into the "Ghoul" community and their laws, and we begin to see how the "Ghoul Department" at the police are hunting them. The dilemma Kaneki lives, I've lived it with him, he doesn't know what to feel towards Ghouls. They eat humans, but they still have feelings and some of them have grown closer to him. I love to see [...]

Sleep? Why sleep? If the fact that i have read 19 chapters at one sit doesn't prove how addictive this manga is I honestly don't know what will. Considering the fact that I haven't reached the part where i have no clue what the hell happens, I am still thrilled and excited!! Even if I am reading things I already know. Now as for the plot: Touka-chan you are a freaking Badass Queen. Kaneki got his mask (hell yes!) We didn't have Hide but we were introduced to HinamiIt is so fascinating ^_^

This volume is just as good as the first one!So here we are introduced to this anti ghoul group called the CCG and they try and save humanity from the danger of ghouls. The old man is crazy but kinda funny because he is old and really seems to know his stuff! But I guess he's an investigator for a reason. But I think that it's interesting to have a group such as this because ghouls are an obvious threat to humanity because they eat humans. So I feel like the CCG is in charge of keeping murdering [...]

This manga continues to be a weird one though this volume is not as good as the first. What’s it about? It’s pretty much just continuing the story of Tokyo Ghoul (too weird to try explaining).Pros:The story is still very strange and interesting. It’s also building up to become a much bigger story. There’s some stuff in this volume that I think will be very important for the series. The characters are mostly interesting. We get introduced to some new characters in this book, they have potent [...]

well. keneki is doing his best to fit this new lifestyle, but one thing he realized. only strong can survive this world. humans killing ghouls, ghouls killing ghouls. so he starts training himself to fit to this world, even though he's stll a wimp. last volume, ghouls were hunting humans, but this volume humans hunting the ghouls. i feel sorry for that child that lost her beloved mother. but no need to feel sorry for her. they do the same even worst eats human flesh are you kidding me and i know [...]

**Review in Progress**Kaneki is slowly coming to terms with his new existence. as long as he doesn't have to eat that is. Lucky for him there are a few supplements that curb his new appetite. He has to learn to hide his nature and blend in with humans. While some parts are not a problem, others are. Touka is still a bit of a mysterious character but I like her. She is strong with a chip on her shoulder but we get a bit of a glimpse as to why in this volume. We get to learn a lot about the world o [...]

3.5!The second volume mainly deals with the "Mother & Daughter" Ghoul hunted by the Ghoul Investigators Mado and Amon.Amon and Mado are the most cliche police duo ever. One is an epitome of justice and ruthlessness (Amon). You know, the kind that keeps a passive face, very diligent with their work, might give your ovaries a run for, that type. Other is a mad scientist type, almost insane, who revels in the act of killing of ghouls (Mado). I was rolling my eyes most of time during Mado's pann [...]

Kaneki Ken is the king of the did nothing wrong squad, I swear. Poor guy. On the upside, there's Uta (whose perfect) and Yomo (whose also perfect) so I guess I can live for a little while longer. And we meet the doves in this volume, and the doves are pretty rad; I mean, Mado is fucking crazy but he's still one of my favorite characters. One of *is waiting for trashiyama*

This volume was so much stronger than the first! The world-building takes a huge step forward. We learn about the world of ghouls and how they've maintained their existence in a world of humans that either detest them and/or are afraid of them. We are put in touch with the society that hunts and kills ghouls, rather indiscriminately, and through them, gain some empathy for some of the ghouls. Our MC, Kaneki, teeters between the human and ghoul worlds, and must discover ways to safely exist among [...]

Kaneki-kun is really a nice guy; calm, polite, bookish, clever, thoughtful, reliable, caringEverything I like)Touka is somewhat irritating, however she is also clever and caring towards people she loves. And oh, Uta is an interesting character!I hated Mado. Killing ghouls is his priority I know, but he is so insensitive and cruel towards them. And artwork is not as bad as in the first one) I liked Kaneki's inner monologues, too. Something I didn't see in the anime. Finally, we come to see Kaneki's [...]

3.5 - 3.75 starsThe story is finally starting to pick up some momentum for me. The world building is starting to get more complex, and Kaneki has more to worry about than how he's going to keep himself fed. The Ghoul Investigators are descending on the 20th Ward, searching for ghouls trying to blend into human society. When Kaneki witnesses the brutal murder of a customer by the ghoul police, he is distraught over his sense of helplessness. After Touka takes matters into her own hands, and fails [...]

I like this second volume of the series, although it didn't have the impact as the first one did. I guess this was because, by this point, I'm settled into the story and the situation is not entirely new. Nonetheless, Ishida does a fine job of developing this fantastical premise.

This volume starts to get into the old "who is the monster?" question, as ghouls investigators demonstrate disturbing levels of sadism. This question recurs through the series, but honestly it's been handled more subtly and successfully in other works.Similar titles: KuroZakuroParasyte
