Through a blur of tears, I'm sitting down to write this review. Like most reviews, I want to provide those who read this a nice succinct summary followed by a few thoughts on the book. I'm all about structure. But this book has touched me in a way I didn't expect and will never forget. Even as I'm typing these words, it's all I can do to contain the emotions I'm feeling. But let me try the traditional routeDaniel Whitman has lost his wife and young son, and the unbearable pain has made him unafra [...]

Along a stretch of Hwy. 101 in California, a straggling collection of people linger in a diner, while the rains pound ruthlessly and the few customers are reluctant to breach the torrents of the outside world. A rain-drenched and soaked man enters, looking battered and beaten by much more than the rains. Thus begins our story, and as the prologue reveals, life has changed dramatically for this man; we soon learn that his name is Daniel Whitman, and that horrific things have happened to him.Flash [...]

The healing that follows a personal tragedy is a well-worn subject in literature. It's a tricky subject to handle successfully, to avoid being clinical on one side and mawkish on the other. It took me until I was about halfway through the book to decide that Ms. Cozy manages to walk this tightrope. This realization came when I found myself thinking about the main characters (there are several in this book) during breaks at work. Indeed, the main strength of the book is the vividness of its chara [...]

I would love to rate this book more highly, because it had a lot of things going for it. Lots of (fairly) believable characters, strong story line. I liked the central character, Daniel, and his friend, Mick. I liked that it was set in a musical, arty world in California. The descriptive passages were properly vivid. I did enjoy it - in parts. Trouble was, for me, I kept coming up against things I didn't like. Basic things too - like the way his friends reacted when Daniel disappeared. I found E [...]

While it wasn't a novel I would have normally picked up, I found this to be a pretty decent read. I enjoyed the author's writing style and her descriptions, as well as her down-to-earth relatable characters and well constructed dialogue. The book, on the whole, was a little bit "average joe" for me. But admittedly, I am normally a fantasy nerd and I enjoy high-adventure stories filled with barons and royalty and whatnot. The Day After Yesterday was pretty much what I expected it to be, and I wou [...]

I had a free copy. A couple of episodes were well-thought out and well-written, but mostly is was a miasma of misery and too long by about 200 pages.

The Day After Yesterday has the best descriptions of the feelings of grieving and deep depression I have ever read. People should read this book for this, if nothing else, to help them understand themselves and others a little bit better. Kelly Cozy also does a great job of connecting adult feelings to what has happened to shape them when they were kids. I know people who are still stuck in the anger of their childhood and will probably stay this way forever, because the pain of unwinding these [...]

Struck by grief, depression and guilt, caused by a tragedy to his family, Daniel Whitman struggles to once again find meaning and hope in his life. His overwhelming guilt causes him to leave everyone he knows, along with his music, in the hopes of once again finding hope. What he learns and discovers on his journey changes the rest of his life. The main thing that struck me while reading this book was how long it was. I read it via Kindle and just wasn't prepared for such a long read. Not only wa [...]

I put my comments on my shelf, didn't realize there was more than one spot . So here goes again. I enjoyed the book. I won this on a contest from the author Kelly Cozy. I am grateful for that, as based on the cover and write up on the back I may not have chosen it at a store. But once I started reading it I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept my attention which these days is difficult and I finished it in 2 weeks. It tells the story of Daniel, who loses his wife and son in a freak accident while he [...]

I got this book from giveaway so it is first obligatory to thank and Kelly Cozy for giving me this book.Like the back cover of the book promises, it is a story of a man surviving a tragedy, a story of hope and friendship and music. However, the book failed to touch me as I had hoped it would. The book was way too heavy with tell and not enough with show. Although Kelly Cozy is a capable enough writer and she created likable enough characters, they just weren't enough to carry this 400+ page sto [...]

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. I highly recommend it. The story is about the loves and the pains of life, woven around one man, his family and friends. You will want to laugh and cry with these very average people who strive to find happiness as their lives ebb and flow through the best of days and the most devastating of days that living gives us. I hope you love them as I did. Curl up and read The Day After Yesterday with a box of tissues and a heart full of love.

I really enjoyed this book. The grief and Daniel's handling of (or not handling) his wife and son's death was true to form for many. It can be like falling into an abyss with no hope for a happy future. The moving on in life takes time and his meeting someone new that fit into his life was handled well. The author did a good job of Daniel's accident and death. Loved the book and it touched my heart.

Sad StoryOne gets very involved with all the characters in this book. One also wishes so much tragedy would not have occurred. Delving into how each person handles all the hurdles makes an excellently written story read very well.

It took me awhile to get into this story, but once in I enjoyed it. Its multiple layered characters sometimes seemed a bit contrived, but eventually they all added to the plot. It took a bit of work to digest the many interwoven stories. The omniscient point of view is bothersome.

Story about "living" after traumatic events. What I liked is that the book spanned over many years. It was sad and touching in the end. The Epilogue dragged alittle. 4 stars.
