I really enjoyed the writing and plot in this story crafted by Danielle Doolittle. We meet feisty heroine Carleigh Philips a horse-trainer who crosses swords with Prince Henry Fitzgerald' a newly enforced patient at her father's rehabilitation ranch. The once confirmed playboy finds himself forced into rehab after one too many wild nights, and whilst they are complete opposites, the attraction slowly builds and neither can deny it, but can he really change his ways? I look forward to reading mor [...]

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you! Royal Pain was a great story. It was sweet romantic, with a little twist of suspense that really did the trick. Danielle Doolittle managed to create a world that it can be real; starting from the characters to how the lived they’re lives. I was afraid I was going to read another romance story with the main character a crying girl, who all she can do is day-dream. The author created instead a strong girl, independent, with a mind [...]

Between the title and the cover, it's pretty obvious that Royal Pain is a romantic comedy. Then there's the synopsis, which has all the key words promising an entertaining story. I sometimes worry about romantic comedies- they can be cliche and overly dramatic. Luckily for me, this one isn't cliche, and while there is drama, a lot of it is a good, suspenseful, somewhat action-y kind of drama.First off, the characters. Wow! I love Carleigh's personality!! Fiery red-head for sure, but in the best [...]

Find this review and more at Lusty Penguin Reviews!Danielle Doolittle writes an entertaining contemporary romance in Royal Pain, the first book in the Sweetwater Creek series.Prince Henry Xavier Bartholomew Reginald Fitzgerald is as pompous as his name. Henry loves to drink as much as he loves to party, which lands him in an Iowan jail. When his family refuses to help, Henry’s choices are rehab or jail. Choosing rehab, Henry finds himself at the Sweetwater Creek Ranch and Rehabilitation Center [...]

Disclaimer: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Prince Henry of Benignus lands himself in some trouble and ends up entering a program at Sweetwater Creek for part of his rehabilitation. Carleigh Phillips lives and works at the ranch which also houses patients undergoing treatment.I think it’s pretty safe to say we know where this is going straight off the bat, right? ;)Henry…is an arrogant, sm [...]

3.5 stars. ROYAL PAINRoyal Pain is one of those books that I would call ‘cute’. It was sweet and had a good love story but seemed to be lacking something that could have made it a great story.Prince Henry, second in line for the crown in the Kingdom of Benignus, was your typical bad boy. He had left his home to hang out in America, enjoying a wild world of alcohol and women. He had broken the law in Iowa and thought his royal status could get him out of his sticky situation. He was sorely [...]

Royal Pain was a total surprise book for me. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this sweet, fun read so much. The characters were all super endearing, and the plot had a tiny bit of mystery wound through it that took Royal Pain to an incredibly climatic ending. After the first few pages of Royal Pain, I was completely sure I was going to hate Prince Henry. He was a total idiot! Eventually though, he did start showing all these redeeming qualities that had me falling for him as I read more of the story [...]

Delightfully wonderful story! Prince Henry of Benignus is a Royal Pain in the you-know-what from the very start. Just as you would expect a member of a royal family to be, he’s arrogant, spoiled, and frankly, a bit lazy. But if he was anything else, we wouldn’t have a story, and this is a great story!Carleigh Philips deals with bad-boy attitude swaggering types all the time. She isn’t about to let Henry get away with anything as long as he’s at Sweetwater Creek Ranch Center where he’s [...]

I'm giving this a 3.5 out of five stars because: horses and a prince. The writing was good, pulling me into the story right away. I found some of the character motivations to be slightly unrealistic or over-dramatized and cliche.I liked both of the main characters. It was a typical "there is no way these two should fall for each other" circumstance, where they felt immediate attractions. I was glad to see them deepen their feelings by having shared interests (namely, the horses). This "prince fall [...]

I really enjoyed this sweet, suspenseful novella. It is about Prince Henry of Benignus and Iowa rancher Carleigh Philips. To commoners and royalty, Henry is a known player and spends his time drinking and having fun. After he is caught speeding while being under the influence, he is sentenced to six months at a rehabilitation ranch in Iowa. Carleigh's father owns the working ranch and he is also the psychiatrist that treats the patients. There is an immediate attraction between Carleigh and Henry [...]

This was a good read, i was sent it for review and i have spent the last two days finishing it off, its only a short book at just over a 100 pages, a novella if you will so it was just the right length for me at the moment. We meet Prince Henry after another night out boozing and not knowing where is his leads to his court appearance, and despite been royal he is carted off to rehab. Carleigh is a true country girl at heart and is recovering from another bad boy type breaking her heart when Henr [...]

This is a sweet novella, with a twist of suspense in it. This is a clean romance (cleaning, meaning no steamy sex scenes for you schmexy sex lovers out there), but it’s cute and a satisfying afternoon read. It reminds me of Sweet Home Alabama meets Coming to America (movies, people… movies).Ms. Doolittle does an exceptional job of developing characters with background, a plot (with romance and suspense), clean dialogue, and a HEA all in a novella. Impressive. While I had a hard time connecti [...]

Royal Pain is a sweet romance set on a horse ranch. The characters are well developed with enough drama to weave an interesting plot. It kept my attention from the beginning. I would recommend this novel.

Sweet, clean. Predictable.Carleigh was my favorite. She definitely seemed older than early 20s.Nice rainy day read. Suspense at the end dragged out the story more than enhancing it.
