This was a refreshingly cute story about Callisto who comes to Mervyn seeking help when a wizard steals his heart and replaces it with a charm that drains Callisto's energy. Mervyn is willing to help him but to do that he needs expertise from another fairy, who just happens to be Callisto's estranged brother, Denzil. Denzil and Mervyn do everything they can to get Callisto better before the mysterious wizard drains all of Callisto's life-force. In the meantime, they enlist some help from an Inve [...]

This is a very sweet and endearing book. A greatly appreciated reprieve while I was reading a difficult book. But it sounds horrible when I call it a reprieve, because it's not just a 'filler'. It has quite the interesting story line to it, no great mystery, but the whole idea of stealing hearts, having a mechanical one, is an intriguing one.Ms Miller has never been a favourite, her works have usually fallen short of what I generally like, however this one exceeded my expectations and was indeed [...]

Нудная середина и нудный конец. Я ожидала больше, чем "она его за муки полюбила, а он ee за состраданье к ним".The "comfort" bit of hurt/comfort was overdone, trying to compensate for falling in love, I guess. Once Callisto's new charm was in place, everything slowed down to a crawl.

This was a very good story. It's a pretty straight forward fantasy with just the perfect hint of romance. There is action but the moments of tension are brief. A simple but very well put together story, eloquent writing without the superfluous drama so many authors indulge in, vivid but subtle world building, and the characters feel real and are incredibly endearing. They have distinct personalities, but are not caricatures of themselves the way you find in a lot of romance books. And while ther [...]

I need to make this quick I liked Stolen Hearts! I did! But it wasn't great also. What I liked:- The MC's are really sweet and likeable. They have a super slow-burning start into a relationship.- Derin is a great secondary character.- The charms-wizards-and-fairy world was interesting, butWhat I didn't like that much:- not enough developed on the one hand (wizard-fairy relationships, i.e.) and too repetitive on the other (charms, charms, and charms)- the showdown was meh, the villain less than me [...]

3.5*This was a pretty interesting story, a fairie has had his heart stolen and replaced with a mechanical device so a wizard can steal his magic. He finds another wizard willing to help him, because without help, he will die in a matter of days. There is magic and trust and mistrust and an endearingly annoying brother and great aunt, but the romance is very minimal3 always has very sweet non-explicit stories, and that's just fine with me, but I wish just a bit more time had been focused on the MC' [...]

Задумка прекрасная, мир неплохой, герои даже вполне себе симпатичные, но писать автор ни шиша не умеет. На десятом за полкниги he smiled shyly захотелось побиться об стенку головой.

Mervyn makes a living creating charms and working spells to help the people who come to his door. Normally a wizard is the last place a fairy would go to for help, but Mervyn has been known to freely give his services to those fairies that come to him, without demanding a bond or any service from them. To be bound to a wizard, especially against one’s will, is a bit of a taboo (at best) for fairies and a life-sentence, at worst. That’s why Callisto comes to Mervyn. He had seen the fairy-light [...]

3.2 StarsI mentioned it in an update, but I think Jordan L. Hawk and KJ Charles have ruined me for this genre. In this book there was an extremely heavy emphasis on the magic, the supernatural world, the charms & the spells the detriment of the relationship building and character growth. I never really felt what connection was supposedly established and I never connected with the characters much at all. Plus, I figured out the culprit stealing magic/hearts almost immediately and never really [...]

This was a gem of a read. I bought it quite a while ago and because of the long list of unread books on my Kindle it went unnoticed. Then I was browsing through my titles for my next read and saw this one, double checked the summary one more time and settled down. Needless to say I was annoyed with myself for having taken so long to get around to it.I loved Stolen Hearts! Everything about it just captured me. Mervyn and Callisto were wonderful characters and their slow paced romance was perfect, [...]

2.5 starsI'd like to give this book a higher rating because I quite enjoy stories by this author but I just can't.The idea of a stolen heart was interesting but the plot and characters were not. I had to stop reading several times because I was plain bored and wanted to read something more exciting.(view spoiler)[There is a lot of explaining by Mervyn how the charms and spells etc. work but after a while it seems repetitive. He adds a new charm, asks Callisto how he feels, makes some adjustments [...]

mervyn (whom i continually called merlin while i was reading) is a wizard. wizards are seen by society to be a little better than the rest because they can perform magic. their magic is better, though, with the help of fairy magic. because of this, many wizards force bondings upon fairies, and fairies hide the fact that they are fairies to escape that fate. one day, callisto (continually called castillo in my head) arrives without his heart. it was taken from him by a wizard and his life force i [...]

Mervyn the wizard gets a late night request for a charm modification. It seems that a fairy named Callisto has lost his heart- literally. He was jumped, mugged, and when he awoke his heart was gone. In its place was a crude charm that would keep him alive. In turn, Callisto’s life energy is being drained by the evil wizard who made the charm. Always up for a challenge, Mervyn assures the fairy that he will recreate the charm and will find out who has done this terrible thing. After all, it wou [...]

While I really liked the wizard/fairy aspect of this book I just would have liked more romance between these two Callisto needs help because a bad wizard puts a spell on him to steal his energy which ends up taking his heart so he goes to Mervyn for help. Mervyn helps him with the charm to make the pain less for him and to find the wizard responsible. While parts of this book were very good, for me personally this one just did not grab me very well. You get a little bit of action and a little bi [...]

I liked the story very much, and since it says "Book 1" on the cover, I'm hoping she'll continue with the characters. There wasn't a lot of specific world development--you're given an overall impression of how the universe works, but there's not enough detail to make it clear. Since most of the story is contained to a single location, this isn't an issue. If any continuation of the story follows the character who does police work, further world development would be a necessity. I may edit the re [...]

While the idea - a fairy had his heart stolen and replaced with a charm - is a very good one, the story and especially the characters didn't really grab me for whatever reason. I can't put my finger on why, though. :/ Maybe it was too little background for all of them, maybe because Mervyn pretty easily found a replacement/solution for the missing heart, maybe because there where some things hinted at but not explained :(So, an okay book for a lazy Sunday afternoon on the couch but unfortunately [...]

I wish we had a sequel for Stolen Hearts, because the way it was released in the past, was to short and undeveloped. Nonetheless I liked the main plot. The main romance between wizard Mervyn and fairy Callisto, was also to undeveloped. Actually at the end it only begun to develop. 2011/March/28 - 4 star ratingThis story was fresh and truly enjoyable. All character were interesting and I wouldn't mind reading sequel or other new books in this series. The writing style and plot kept my attention t [...]

I listened to the audio edition. Really sweet fantasy romance with a good narrator, if it's done and comes to audio I'd happily buy the next one. This is where I wish had a 1/2 mark system. There's a good plot and if the focus was equally on the action and the romance i'd have given it a four but because it's not, I can't compare it with my other 4* ratings. That being said I enjoyed it far more than most books I would give a three to. One for the romantics, that leaves you feeling happy and th [...]

Miller's story is steampunk high fantasy fun. The world and its characters are intriguing; there are certainly more stories to be had, and I would pick them up in a heartbeat if they were written. The relationships, between the brothers and their potential paramours, were developed gently and slowly, but there wasn't a lot of development in this book. The focus of the story is the mystery and the fixing of Callisto's heart. Creatively, smoothly written, with person-centered instead of world-cent [...]

I want more. I NEED more. This was such a great and interesting idea, with so many interesting characters and plots. I love each and every character because they all have a specific personality and their own motivation, and it really was awesome to discover them. The chase was as interesting as the scientific part of the book, and I really, really liked it. I thing there is a second book planned? I hope so, because it was awesome!

The mecha element to this was very interesting. The balance between the mecha and the fantasy was quite nice, actually. The writing itself was rather reminiscent of the works of Megan Derr (to me, at least).

The story begins when Callisto comes to "good wizard" Mervyn and asks for help when his heart is replaces with a charm designed to drain Callisto's energy. The characters were cute, the story was good but it dragged on sometimes even thought the book is not very long.
